Cary Tennis Workshops – Become a better writer and a happier person.

Writer workshops

Jan 26, 2017. If your 2017 writing goals include networking or honing your craft, there's no better place to do so than a writer's conference or workshop. Whether you are looking to shore up your technique with quality intensives, or network with industry professionals, there is an upcoming event for you. Some are small. Or write to programs@and we will get back to you soon. If a reservation for a class or workshop is canceled 3 days or more prior to the start of a class or workshop, a refund of 75% will be made, less a $25.00 administrative fee. The reservation may be converted to a credit for an upcoming class or workshop, good for one year, if preferred. For any cancellation 48 hours or less before a class or workshop is scheduled to begin, no refund will be made, nor will a credit toward a future workhop or class be given. New York School poets Frank O’Hara and James Schuyler created in their poems a new kind of intimacy between writer and reader. Far from the the weighty self-dramatizing of confessional poets like Lowell, Plath, and Sexton, their work is witty, spontaneous, playful, and filled with candid details from their personal lives and friendships. In this six-week workshop, we’ll read a broad selection of poems by O’Hara and Schuyler with an eye toward how their poetry might open up new possibilities in our own writing. In each session, our time will be divided equally between discussing the work of O’Hara and Schuyler and workshopping new poems generated by class participants. This is a beginning playwriting workshop for the eager amateur, the emerging professional, or the curious writer exploring a new medium.

MIL GRACIAS to all our artist-teachers, readers, and participants who gave so much of themselves. Please click here to see our photo album in-progress. Abrazos, Cristina García In August of 2017, Las Dos Brujas Writers' Workshops will host a five-day conference of workshops, craft talks, readings, and performances by a small group of influential, dedicated, and diverse voices in American and international literature. Our program seeks to create an intimate community of open-minded, trailblazing writer-teachers and participants whose work challenges the status quo. This year's conference is of special significance as it is organized in direct response to the racism, xenophobia, misogyny, and homophobia of the new administration. Now, more than ever, we are committed to the critical importance of writing and art making as a form of resistance, of giving voice to silences too long suffered, of raising our voices in a chorus of mutual affirmation. For it is up to us to find meaning and story where we’ve been told they have no worth.
