At 38 chapters, it is also the longest book in the series, having jokingly been labelled as heavier than a refrigerator (by Stephen Fry at the Royal Albert Hall event) and used as a benchmark for the size of the next two books. It was one of the most widely-anticipated books of the series, since there was a wait of three years between it and the previous book, Goblet of Fire. " Dr Neil Murray is Jo's husband, Jessica, her daughter, and David, her son. Why else would he be waking in the middle of the night, screaming in terror? Harry is in his fifth year at Hogwarts School as the adventures continue. Harry has a lot on his mind for this, his fifth year at Hogwarts: a Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher with a personality like poisoned honey; a big surprise on the Gryffindor Quidditch team; and the looming terror of the Ordinary Wizarding Level exams. But all these things pale next to the growing threat of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, one that neither the magical government nor the authorities at Hogwarts can stop. In his fifth year at Hogwarts, Harry faces challenges at every turn, from the dark threat of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named and the unreliability of the government of the magical world to the rise of Ron Weasley as the Keeper of the Gryffindor Quidditch Team. As the grasp of darkness tightens, Harry must discover the true depth and strength of his friends, the importance of boundless loyalty, and the shocking price of unbearable sacrifice. Along the way he learns about the strength of his friends, the fierceness of his enemies, and the meaning of sacrifice. Harry Potter remains at his house, 4 Privet Drive, living with his Muggle aunt, uncle and cousin and severely cut off from the rest of the wizarding world. The neighbourhood is suffering from an exhausting heat wave and due to this, Harry spends the majority of his summer out of the house, going on walks and trying to avoid his aunt and uncle as much as possible because the paranoid pair won't stop badgering him over his interest in the news.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Discussion Questions. June 2, 2014. I'm not even mad that our Quidditch match and meeting keep getting postponed, because we can just drag this group out longer and longer instead of being done with book seven in July! order7. Oh boy, Order of the Phoenix. I hated this book. Throughout the novel, the goal of the Order is to stop Voldemort from attaining the record of the prophecy that was made by Professor Trelawney, which predicts that a boy born at the end of July will defeat Voldemort. However, the prophecy also indicates that Voldemort will mark this boy as his equal, which he does by choosing Harry Potter, a half-blood like himself, over Neville, a pure-blood born the day before Harry. Having only been made aware of half of the prophecy, Voldemort attempted to prevent it from coming true, not realizing that in doing so, he only solidified it. When he tried to kill Harry but Lily stood in between, he transferred some of his powers to Harry, therefore marking him as his equal. As is the nature of prophecies in literature, it is necessary for the prophecy to be heard and recognized for those about whom they are written in order for them come true. Similar to Macbeth fulfilling the prophecy that he will be king by killing Duncan, Voldemort sets in place that the final showdown will be between him and Harry, and that only one of them will live, having been killed by the other. Harry often finds himself slipping into Voldemort's thoughts, and as he feels the wizarding community turning its back on him, he begins to wonder if he himself is actually becoming bad. However, it is his godfather, Sirius, who points out that no person is only definitely good or definitely bad, echoing Dumbledore's wisdom from that he must choose whether to act on negative impulses or to strive for the light.

Finding the java is the easy part, but the ideas are a bit trickier. However, using unique writing prompts can help you get started, and I've found that the best sparks of inspiration can be found in great books. Rowling offered you world of your own to escape to as a kid, and one that you can still call home. Opening up any one of the books will always give you chills up your spine and bring a smile to your face. And the Harry Potter series is more than full of magical inspiration to get you motivated. And because of that, I've put together a list of the best Harry Potter quotes and paired them with a writing prompt to get you started. Rowling has said she was inspired by her favorite books as she wrote the Harry Potter series. Your big challenge: Don't write fan fiction — write your own stuff! Take a deep breath and get your quill and paper (or, well, Word document) ready, because inspiration is about to strike! Writing prompt: Imagine a world where "lost and found" boxes transport people back into their past to find something they lost long ago, like a prized possession or family heirloom.—Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Writing Prompt: Create a character who has sworn her life over to a society focused on doing evil in a world of good. Bonus: Create a foil whom she'll meet and clash with — but end up falling in love with.—Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Writing Prompt: A character has just found an old, abandoned library with every single book thrown off of the shelves, but still in good shape. The only thing all the books have in common is each one is missing its 394th page. —Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Writing prompt: Place a boarding school in your hometown and imagine a group of students conducting the most epic prank to start out the year.
Hermione insists on freeing all of the House Elves at Hogwarts, even the ones who do not wish to be freed. What role do slavery and enslavement play in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix? Who else in the book, besides the elves, is enslaved? How do notions of freedom play into the narrative? The ideas of freedom. Its Harry's fifth year attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and things have not been more dangerous, nor strange. This year is even more action filled than the last. Very early in the story, bad things are already beginning to happen such as, Demonters show up on Privet Drive, Harry is caught using magic out of school for the second time (meaning that he is to face expulsion), and Harry finds out about a secret force called the Order of the Phoenix. This secret group of people include those who Harry has known, such as the Weasleys, Sirius, Mad-eye, Lupin, and Dumbledore. Then there are people who he just meets like Tonks, Kingsley, Diggle, Emmeline, Elphias, Dedalus, and Sturgis. They are all in a fight against Lord Voldermort, or better known as "he-who-must-not-be-named." This is the best book ever. I love the whole series and its one of the reasons why I was so eager to read it. This is the second time I've read this book, but I feel that I understood it better.

This time around I listened to it on my commute – which meant I yelled “B*%$&” a lot (at Umbridge mostly, also Cho and Marietta) and cried a lot (Dumbledore’s Army?! The corruption and nepotism was certainly annoying – which was the most heinous? What is the worst thing about her, in your opinion? Divination is both mocked and redeemed in this book. Did you think Snape was making Harry more vulnerable on purpose? Why does Rowling seemingly leave the door open for Sirius’ return, even while Dumbledore and other’s assure Harry he is dead? Occlumency is meant to help Harry shut out Lord Voldemort, but fails so miserably that it actually makes things worse.
